HE’S PROBABLY STUCK IN TRAFFIC
A COMPILATION OF POETRY BY ALESSANDRA ZEVARA
AVAILABLE IN 2023
The poem which is the namesake of the book reads:
Trying to manifest
my future husband
is becoming
a part-time job
that has yet
to pay me
- "He's Probably Stuck in Traffic"
As a resident of Los Angeles, there are countless instances where traffic is blamed for lateness, mood, or the changing of plans (and sometimes, the lack of plans due to flaking or fatigue.) This line also references the excuses we make for others when we're not prepared to accept reality or the truth. As opposed to an often expected Prince Charming, the pages of the book reveal plenty of frogs. This poetry compilation encourages readers to follow a journey of self-acceptance and empowerment, to celebrate nature, embrace feminism, question societal norms, chase adventure, and see beauty in times of struggle.
While this manuscript certainly references California and life in LA, the overarching themes are universally human: feelings of love, lust, limerence, loss, and the search for meaning in ourselves, others, and our environment.
